Lung cancer
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, and although new immunotherapies have improved survival, a critical challenge persists: treatment resistance and poor outcomes in metastatic disease. This underscores the urgent need for more effective therapeutic strategies. Our program focuses on tumor glycoimmunology, investigating how glyco-checkpoints and aberrant glycosylation in tumor cells sustain immunosuppression and vascular programs that limit therapeutic efficacy.
Within this framework, we study galectin-1 (Gal-1) and glycan signatures as therapeutic targets and biomarkers to stratify patients and enhance combinations with immunotherapy and anti-angiogenic agents, advancing from preclinical models toward precision strategies aimed at improving both the magnitude and durability of clinical responses.
