Colorectal cancer (CRC)

Colorectal Cancer

CRC is the third most common tumor and the second leading cause of cancer-related death. Despite significant advances in immunotherapy in other malignancies, its efficacy in CRC remains limited. In this context, studying tumor immune evasion mechanisms becomes crucial. We investigate the role of galectin-1 (Gal-1), whose expression is directly associated with malignant progression and metastasis in various cancer types. Using experimental models, we have demonstrated that Gal-1 plays an immunosuppressive role in the tumor microenvironment. Based on these findings, we have generated neutralizing anti-Gal-1 monoclonal antibodies and are evaluating their therapeutic potential in comparison with current therapies.
